JPSA Eyewitness Programme

Errant drivers don't just happen, they are bred. When one thinks that you are invincible, you are far more likely to behave badly than if you have been made aware of the fact that you are made of flesh and blood.

Eyewitness Programme'SAFER SCHOOLS'

The tragic slaying of four and serious injury of a further three high school students in Soweto on Monday 8 March 2010 has highlighted the need to urgently address the behaviour of motorists at and near schools.

Despite receiving no funding for itself to speak of, JPSA has etablished a trust fund to gather fuding for the installation of metal speed humps (as above) at all schools in South Africa in an effort to calm traffic and make the entrances to schools a safer place to be. 100% of funds realised from this initiative will be put towards having these traffic calming measures installed.

Eyewitness Programme'Class Action Initiative'

After trying the "diplomatic" route and having laid criminal charges against the JMPD for the issue of tens of thousands of fraudulent camera "speeding fines", the JPSA has finally taken up the advice of the RTMC to institute a class action lawsuit against te JMPD and others.

Included in this class action initiative is a call for traffic legislation to be amended to be fairer and more effective to road users.

Eyewitness Programme'Eyewitness programme'

Generally punitive and revenue-driven approaches to traffic violations has proven to be an ineffective means of tackling the huge cost of road fatalities in South Africa.

As an alternative approach, JPSA is, in conjunction with ER24 and the Arrive Alive website (www.arrivealive.co.za) are launching the JPSA Eyewitness Programme which shows by example what the results of delinquent driving habits can be.

Stomp On Corruption'STOMP ON CORRUPTION'

No matter where you go in the world, corruption and power abuse is a cancer that erodes the very metal of society and is a true evil.

Whining about how bad things are has no positive effect and does nothing to tackle the problem.

That is why the JPSA has teamed up with the SAPS Anti-Corruption Task Team to make a positive contribution to tackling this problem head on. You too can play your part (anonymously if you wish) by reporting corruption through our web-based mechanism. Click here if you have any relevant information for us.

Metro Police'AIKONA NOMAKANJANI!'

The JMPD’s operation nomakanjani (which means "no matter what" or "by any means" depending on who you ask) - claimed to be targeting taxi drivers - has netted thousands of Johannesburg motorists since its inception in March 2009, however the charges laid against these motorists have been extreme and in many cases, a gross misinterpretation of the law.
